For those that are unaware, I am engaged and very, very soon to be married. My good friend (and best man), John, put together a little hike/brewery/movie day to celebrate and here’s where we went. My future brother-in-law, Jake, joined as well. A pretty accessible hike out of Sultan. We drove up to Spada Lake (Snohomish County’s primary water supply) and hiked along its southern shore for 2 miles until we reached the trailhead for Greider Lakes. Forty switchbacks later, we achieved a notch in the mountains and continued for another few tenths of a mile past Little Greider Lake to Big Greider Lake. Both were spectacular, crystal-clear and we had the place to ourselves. Somehow we scored with the weather on the way in and while we were at the lakes. We could see some foreboding clouds massing to the south of us, but we stayed in the warm sunshine until midway down the switchbacks when it started gently misting. Once we were on the exposed 2-mile gravel road exit the skies absolutely unleashed on us. We hiked the last mile in easily the heaviest sustained downpour I’ve ever experienced. It was awesome!
