It’s always fun to add new skills or try something new out. For several years, I’ve looked up at the glaciers above where I’ve been hiking and longed to set foot on them. Safely. Turns out, my friend Eric has as well.
So we determined to try our hand at roped glacier travel on Mt Ruth, widely known as the “starter glacier” in the area. The runout is good, the crevasses cross-able (and obvious), and the approach decent.
It was a great day, minus the 100′ visibility due to wildfire smoke. Can’t win ’em all.
