What a nice way to spend a couple hours in the morning: rigging boats and running some light water. My buddy Adam and I dropped a truck in Snohomish and then returned 7 miles upstream to run the lower Pilchuck River into Snohomish. Adam is a rescue swimmer with my fire department and our station is less than a mile from the put-in pictured above (OK Mill Rd) so it felt appropriate to get eyes on this stretch of river for a couple reasons.
It was a great morning! Lower Pilchuck was running just shy of 1000 CFS and only had a small handful of minor hazards on the full 7 mile stretch. Just upstream of Dubuque Rd was a slightly narrow, choppy section (Class II+??) due to strainers on both left and right sides for a small distance. Otherwise, it was a straightforward paddle.
Cheers to the RS1 course attendees we saw up on the right river bank as we entered DT Snohomish!
